Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Cleaning Ambassador to help keep public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. You will work outdoors, greeting passersby, and performing a range of cleaning tasks with a rolling cart in your assigned zone.

The role offers weekly pay, pay advances, paid time off, free uniforms, and support programs. Training is provided, and 18+ with a HS diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but training will be provided.
• Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to walk/stand for eight hours and work outdoors in all conditions.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English for basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks in assigned zones with a positive, professional demeanor.
• Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings and provide directions or city information.
• Remove litter, graffiti, and posters from streets, sidewalks, and public fixtures.
• Pull weeds from tree wells and sidewalks, and damp-wipe outdoor surfaces.
• Complete basic daily reports and report any safety concerns via two-way radios.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $ 20.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

What You'll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed which requires being proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.

Requirements

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
