Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to keep urban spaces clean, friendly, and safe. The role involves patrolling a designated zone, engaging with the public, and performing outdoor cleaning tasks with a positive, professional demeanor.

We offer weekly pay, possible pay advances, benefits, PTO, and free uniforms. The job suits outgoing individuals, including retirees and students, who can work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift with breaks.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning tasks in the assigned zone with a positive demeanor.
• Greet pedestrians and provide directions or city information.
• Remove litter and graffiti from streets, sidewalks, and public areas.
• Pull weeds at tree wells and sidewalks.
• Damp wipe outdoor surfaces and straighten surfaces like trash can lids and boxes.
• Complete basic daily reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $19.00to $19.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

At Block by Block we employ Ambassadors to make public spaces better by making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities we serve.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
