Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to keep public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. You will work outdoors in an assigned zone, maintaining a professional presence and assisting pedestrians with directions and information.

This role offers weekly pay, pay advances, paid time off, and complimentary uniforms, with training provided and opportunities suitable for retirees, students, and veterans looking for their first job.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but training provided.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to walk/stand for long periods in all weather.
• Must be able to read and write English for basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of cleaning tasks in assigned zones.
• Engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting and directions.
• Remove litter and graffiti from streets, sidewalks and areas.
• Weed base of tree wells and cracks in sidewalks.
• Complete daily task reports and monitor safety in the area.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $20.00to $20.00per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

Shift/Schedule:

• Mon. - Sun. from 7:00am to 3:30pm

CPR Certification PREFERRED

What You'll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
