Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to keep streets and public spaces clean, friendly, and safe. You’ll engage with pedestrians, perform litter removal, and report security concerns as needed.

This role involves outdoor work with a Wed-Sun shift from 12:30pm to 9:00pm and weekly pay. Prior experience is welcome but not required, and uniforms are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
• Experience preferred but not required; training provided.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Perform street-level cleaning and litter removal in the assigned zone.
• Greet and assist pedestrians with directions and information as needed.
• Report suspicious activity and complete basic daily task reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $19.00to$19.00per hour

(Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

Shift/Schedule:

• Wed. - Sun. from 12:30pm to 9:00pm

What You'll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
