Job summary

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• Title I assignments: choose from college hours or equivalent knowledge in reading, writing, mathematics, or readiness.
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment (phones, copiers, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate English language skills.
• Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work alone and with others.
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading and attendance; documentation as needed.
• Assist students with classroom activities and curriculum delivery for individuals and small groups.
• Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior across activities and during field trips.
• Perform basic clerical tasks for the classroom teacher (typing, filing, inventory, etc.).
• Assist with other classroom events such as field trips or drills.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
