Job summary

FedEx Freight in Kansas is seeking a Class A CDL driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations.

Responsibilities include daily pre-trip inspections, hooking/unhooking trailers, completing paperwork, maintaining logs, and complying with DOT regulations. Endorsements, MVR standards, and ability to operate long combination vehicles are required; duties may include lifting up to 100 pounds and overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• 1 year experience within most recent 3 years, or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) qualifications for listed states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers requiring approx. 100 pounds lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Drive long distances day and night on all types of roads and in all weather.
