Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. The role requires daily safety inspections, accurate documentation, and adherence to DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year experience within the most recent 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV driving experience required for certain states; must meet qualification standards.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, coordination with peers).
• Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers requiring ~100 lb lift, several times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, and climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team; demonstrates initiative.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-points via tractor-trailer combos.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and safety checks on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractors or trailers.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and comply with regulations and company policies.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems to dispatch.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires when required.
• May perform duties of a city driver or dock employee as needed.
• Load and unload freight as required; comply with all laws and DOT rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
