Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, hitching/unhitching trailers, and maintaining safety/compliance records.

You will log daily records, communicate with dispatch, and may cover city driver or dock duties as needed. HazMat/tank endorsements and a clean MVR are required; long combination vehicle qualifications apply for certain states.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (Automatic transmission allowed).
• 1 year experience within last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• MVR acceptable per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV qualifications apply in listed states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Ability to sit for extended periods and lift ~100 pounds.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment problems.
• May be required to chain vehicle tires.
• May perform city driver or dock duties when necessary.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with all laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
