Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the sales process as needed.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight with forklifts or carts, secure loads, maintain logs, and follow dispatch instructions while ensuring safety and compliance. Responsibilities include operating tractor-trailers, hooking/unhooking trailers, securing cargo, completing paperwork, and adhering to hazmat and DOT rules.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements.
• 1 year experience within last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) knowledge for certain states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training; work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Complete required documentation and reports; follow hazmat rules.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers about pickup/delivery needs.
• Demonstrate customer service and pursue additional business leads.
• May perform chaining of tires or duties of road/dock drivers as needed.
• Adhere to laws, regulations, and company policies; perform other duties.
