Job summary

Markel is seeking a strategic technology leader for Claims IT to own the technology strategy, delivery, and operations for the Claims organization. You will drive Guidewire ClaimCenter platform excellence, oversee integrations, and push AI/automation across FNOL, triage, and reserving to improve outcomes and efficiency.

The role expects executive-level communication, 10+ years in tech with 5+ years leading multi-team delivery, and strong vendor management in a P&C insurance setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years in technology, with 5+ years leading multi-team delivery.
• Deep claims domain knowledge across the full claim lifecycle.
• Proven track record delivering AI, machine learning or intelligent automation in a production setting.
• Strong budgeting, portfolio management and vendor management skills.
• Executive-level communication and ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set and carry out a multi-year Claims technology roadmap aligned with Claims business strategy and enterprise IT standards.
• Lead dedicated delivery teams—engineering, configuration, business analysis, QA, and vendor or offshore partners.
• Own the Guidewire ClaimCenter platform—configuration, integrations, upgrades and Cloud migration/adoption.
• Lead AI solutions in Claims— FNOL, documents, signals, and settlements; drive automation and RPA where applicable.
• Oversee operations and governance including SLAs, incidents, budgeting, and vendor management.
