Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will manage lower-severity Bond & Specialty Claims with supervision, coordinate outside counsel, and analyze risk to achieve favorable outcomes for our insureds and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates hold a JD, a valid license to practice law, and 1–5 years of relevant experience, with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Juris Doctor Degree.
• Licensed or eligible to practice law in the required jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel for mediations, conferences, and depositions.
• 1–5 years of relevant legal or claim handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity under supervision.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare management reports on loss development and financial exposure.
• Coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials to support resolution.
• Provide legal and business support to underwriting colleagues as needed.
• Ensure compliance with BSI Claims processes and confidentiality standards.
• Maintain thorough claim documentation.
