Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. invites a Site Design Intern to join its civil site design team. The role applies coursework to land development projects, from small commercial pads to large residential subdivisions, under the guidance of Senior Engineers.

You will learn to apply ASCE standards and local design criteria, participate in grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control planning, travel to project sites, and support permitting and coordination with surveyors and planners.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, Civil Engineering preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with overall development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities as needed.
