Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to join a civil site design team, applying coursework and experience to land development projects.

Projects range from small commercial pads to large residential subdivisions and mixed-use developments for private developers, homebuilders, and municipal clients. The intern will learn to apply industry standards in the design process and assist Senior Engineers with grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil.
• Strong verbal and written communication; professional interaction with clients and teams.
• Willingness to learn in a cross-disciplinary work environment and in outdoor field conditions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for site development.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support layout and design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D under supervision.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions and respond to review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe conditions and support field activities.
