Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to join a civil site design team, applying coursework to land development projects ranging from small pads to large subdivisions and mixed-use developments for private developers, homebuilders, and municipal clients.

The selected candidate will assist Senior Engineers in grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans, learn industry standards, and gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D while supporting permitting

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and design team members.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and perform work in outdoor field conditions on occasion.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with overall development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities as needed.
