Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to join a civil site design team on land development projects. The role involves applying coursework to grading, drainage, and utility design, with exposure to ASCE standards and local criteria.

You will assist Senior Engineers in preparing plans, observing sites, and performing basic calculations, with opportunities to travel to project locations and gain hands-on field experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and design team members.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and perform outdoor field conditions on occasion.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with overall development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities as needed.
