Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Site Design Intern to join a civil site design team, applying coursework to land development projects from small commercial pads to large subdivisions. You will assist in grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control planning under Senior Engineers.

Qualifications include an ABET-accredited engineering program, strong communication, and willingness to work outdoors and on-site visits. Valid driver’s license and MS Office proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment with field work.
• Willingness to attend site visits and outdoor work conditions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities.
