Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to support a civil site design team on land development projects, from small commercial pads to large residential subdivisions and mixed-use developments for private developers and municipal clients.

The intern will assist Senior Engineers with grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control plans while applying industry standards such as ASCE and local stormwater codes.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and perform outdoor field conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with overall development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities as needed.
