Job summary

The Education Specialist at the University of South Carolina in Columbia develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs across the University community to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.

Reporting to the Director of Incident Response, Education, and Compliance, this role requires a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience, with evening/weekend programming as needed, and a commitment to equity in education.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications include an advanced degree in instructional design, education, law, or related field. Knowledge of Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, or other civil rights and regulations.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities include translating complex laws, policies, procedures, and concepts into accurate, accessible educational content and the ability to collaborate with diverse university partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support institution-wide education and training programs related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct and deliver programming in multiple formats.
  • Develop and maintain processes to monitor participation and completion of required training and report to appropriate units.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies to raise awareness of educational requirements, resources, and opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and update educational content reflecting applicable laws, policies, and office priorities.
