Schnabel is a geotechnical, geostructural and earth-focused engineering firm seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern for May–August 2027 in Owings Mills, MD. The role emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems under senior supervision, with field and office tasks across geotechnical disciplines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.

Responsibilities

• Performing geotechnical field work including observing geotechnical subsurface exploration, using GPS to layout borings, and performing infiltration testing
• Performing construction observation and materials testing at construction sites
• Performing laboratory testing
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS
• Providing support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports
• Some travel may be required
