Job summary

Schnabel, Inc. invites motivated Civil Engineering students for a temporary full-time internship from May through August 2027 to gain practical experience in geotechnical and structural projects.

You will assist with geotechnical investigations, design tasks, and construction observation under senior engineers, with exposure to real field work and office tasks in our Lexington office.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in performing geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing construction plans
• Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses
• Performing construction observation and materials testing
• Some travel may be required
