Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) invites you to join as a Civil Engineer Intern, gaining field experience on outdoor construction activities and hands-on in-office project support.

You will assist with plan specifications, estimates, and documenting construction activities, while working with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software. The role includes potential survey work with GPS/Total Station, data collection, and research supporting design efforts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan specifications, estimates, and documenting construction activities.
• Prepare AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update project set drawings.
• Operate GPS and Total Station survey instruments.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and related software.
• Observe projects at various sites and collect data.
• Support research, development and design of projects.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform workin a variety ofsoftware such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS,etc.
• Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
• Assistwith research, development and design of projects.

We strive to provide a personalized internship based on your area of interest. This may include learning how to do roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, and erosion control.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
• Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
