Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) invites you to join as a Water Resources Engineering Intern in Omaha, NE. This role provides hands-on experience solving water management challenges in quantity and quality, with exposure to Civil 3D, GIS tools, and surveying work.

You will assist with drawings, plan specs, and data collection, while gaining practical insight into a full-service civil/environmental engineering firm established since 1968.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD preferred.
• Able to work outdoors and travel, with a valid driver's license.
• Able to communicate effectively and perform basic math tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates and document construction activities.
• Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines with project set drawings.
• Operate GPS and Total Station survey instruments.
• Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and related software.
• Potential observation and data collection at different project sites.
• Assist with research, development and design of projects.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform workin a variety ofsoftware such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS,etc.
• Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
• Assistwith research, development and design of projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
• Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
