Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) offers a Water Resources Engineering Intern position to apply knowledge to water management challenges in the Midwest.

You will assist with plan specifications, AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings, and field observations at project sites, using GPS and survey equipment. As an intern, you’ll gain experience with MicroStation, ArcGIS, and various project drawings while contributing to research, development and design efforts.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD preferred.
• Able to work extended periods outdoors.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates and document construction activities.
• Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines with various project set drawings.
• Operate GPS and Total Station survey instruments.
• Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and related software.
• Potential observation and data collection at different project sites.
• Assist with research, development and design of projects.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform workin a variety ofsoftware such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS,etc.
• Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
• Assistwith research, development and design of projects.
