Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) seeks a Civil Engineer Intern to assist in the field and in-office projects this summer in Grand Forks, ND. You will help with construction observation on Columbia Road and parking ramps, document activities, and support design tasks.

The role involves AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS work, surveying with GPS/Total Station, and data collection across various sites. A valid driver’s license and outdoor work readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
• Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.

Responsibilities

A Civil Engineer Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities as well as a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers. Specifically, this summer will include construction observation on Columbia Road and various parking ramps in Grand Forks.

Job Description

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform workin a variety ofsoftware such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS,etc.
