Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) seeks a Civil Engineer Intern to support field activities and office projects. You will assist engineers with plan specifications, estimates, documentation and project drawings.

Work includes AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation and ArcGIS tasks; operating GPS and Total Station; data collection; research and design support, with exposure to roadway design, drainage analysis, and erosion control.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
• Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines with various project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform work in a variety of software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.
• Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
• Assist with research, development and design of projects.
