Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Civil/Construction Estimator to provide technical engineering and cost input to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements. You will assist with controls on contracts, budgets, schedules, and job costing, interpret designs for craft workers, and coordinate with on-site departments to keep projects on track.

A BS in Civil Engineering/Construction Management or related field is preferred, with 2+ years of experience in estimating support

Qualifications

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AGTEK Take-off software.
• Knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, materials, and applicable standards.
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.
• Background in civil/construction education or related experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to meet contracts, budgets, schedules and job costing.
• Interpret designs/drawings for craft workers to ensure specs are followed.
• Interface with on-site departments to resolve issues and support schedule.
• Research resolutions to drawing issues to verify compliance with codes and specs.
• Prepare documentation like status reports, punch lists, and material calculations.
• Provide technical support on material controls to minimize costs.
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support changes and estimates.
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate installation.
• Develop data for quantity take-offs, material prices, and labor/equipment costs.
• Research historical data to compile reports for future estimates.
• May supervise project staff to ensure standards and development.
• Represent the company in client/project meetings to aid communication.
