Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an engineer/estimator to provide technical engineering and cost information to ensure construction work aligns with engineering standards. You will support job controls, interpret drawings for crews, and interface with on-site departments to keep projects on schedule.

The role involves preparing documentation, supporting material controls, and developing data for bids, with opportunities to supervise staff and contribute to client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
• 2+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AGTEK Take-off software.
• Working knowledge of construction equipment, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
• Interpret design/drawings for craft workers to ensure specifications are followed.
• Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and support project schedule.
• Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems and errors to ensure compliance with codes and specs.
• Prepare documentation records (status reports, punch lists, sketches, material calculations) for supervisor.
• Provide technical support on project material controls (delivery dates, schedules, design requirements).
• Prepare drawings/sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Develop data for estimates with quantity take-offs, material prices, and labor/equipment costs.
• Research historical data and productivity reports to develop guidelines for future estimates.
• May supervise project staff and participate in client/project management meetings.
