Job summary

YMCA San Antonio is seeking a Childwatch Attendant to supervise infants to 12-year-olds during YMCA programs. You will greet families, implement activities, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment in alignment with our core values.

Responsibilities include diapering, leading themed activities, and coordinating with staff to monitor safety and attendance. Must be 16+ with childcare experience and complete required trainings within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age with at least 6 months of childcare experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Child Abuse Prevention training and certifications required before the first shift.
• Certifications within 60 days: YMCA approved CPR, First Aid, and AED.
• Must promote caring, honesty, respect and responsibility with staff, members and participants.

Responsibilities

• Greet parents and children and communicate policies.
• Changes diapers as needed.
• Implements a weekly program with themes, games, stories, crafts, circle times and events.
• Supervises and participates in large and small group activities for children 6 weeks to 12 years.
• Maintains safety and reports unsafe conditions; exercise sound judgment.
• Demonstrates proper care, storage of equipment and cleaning of environment.
• Communicates professionally with staff, parents and children.
• Serves as Primary Responder for accidents and incidents.
• May work hours outside normal schedule for meetings or events.
• Maintains required safety trainings as directed by supervisor.
