Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a County Caseworker 1 in Jefferson County C&Y to investigate concerns and support families in need. You’ll build partnerships with schools, providers, and community members to ensure child safety and well being.

You will engage directly with children, parents, and partners, performing investigations, delivering resources, and participating in court when required. This role emphasizes durable protection and community collaboration.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training with 12 college credits in the social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience.
• Educational requirements may be met within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Case Investigation: Assess reports of possible abuse or neglect through direct contact with children and families.
• Family Support: Work with parents and caregivers to address safety needs and connect them with resources.
• Community Collaboration: Coordinate with schools, mental health providers, and partners to support child well being.
• Court Participation: Provide testimony and information in court to help protect children.
• Field Engagement: Conduct regular in-person visits to monitor child safety and progress.
