Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Perry County Child Welfare is seeking a County Caseworker 1 to support the safety and well-being of children and families. You will conduct intakes, investigations, home visits, and maintain detailed records to guide families toward stability.

This full-time role operates 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with an on-call rotation; telework is not available. Applicants must meet education/experience requirements and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level coursework in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences
• Bachelor's degree including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences
• Equivalent combination of experience and training with 12 credits in social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience
• Applicants may be considered meeting educational requirements within two months of graduating

Responsibilities

• Intake Planning: complete intake documentation and assess risk using approved guidelines
• Child Safety: investigate reports of mistreatment and ensure child protection
• Family Support: conduct monthly home visits and create family service plans
• Placement Work: perform duties for out-of-home placement including visits and family contact
• Record Management: maintain accurate and detailed family files
• On-Call Service: participate in 24-hour on-call rotation

Education
