Job summary

Milwaukee County seeks a Child Support Assistant to handle front-line customer service tasks under supervision. You will respond to worklist items, interpret data from participants, mail information packets, and conduct frequent in-person interviews, contacting participants by phone or email to provide information or gather details.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current Wisconsin resident.
• At least 6 months of Clerical or Child Support experience.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.
• High level of accuracy and comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Address child support policies, procedures and cases with participants who call or visit the office. Review and provide limited financial information from the KIDS System. Contact participants via phone or email to address general concerns and gather information.
• Utilize and analyze multiple computer databases to review cases, obtain data and respond to inquiries related to child support.
• Update information including addresses, employers, and recording case information from in-person interviews. Add notes on actions taken on cases.
• Generate letters to verify address and employer information, send out packets, and draft income withholdings.
• Determine the unit to address the participant’s concerns (interstate, paternity, intake, order establishment, etc.).
• Perform any and all other duties as may be assigned.
