Job summary

Jackson County Government in Missouri is seeking a dedicated Child Support Enforcement Technician to perform investigative work, establish orders, and oversee enforcement activities to collect payments on existing orders.

You will manage an assigned caseload from initiation to emancipation, interview parents and employers, gather information for legal bases of paternity and support, and assist the supervisor with training and public inquiries.

Qualifications

• Must be able to handle legal documents and prepare legal correspondence.
• Ability to apply legal concepts to a specific set of facts.
• Experience in training other staff is preferred.
• Pre-employment drug test and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized investigative and child support work to establish orders and enforce payments on existing orders.

Department: Family Support Grade: 170 Salary: $22.96/hour

Job Duties:

• Responsible for performing specialized investigative and child support work; responsible for the establishment of orders and initiation and follow through of enforcement activities leading to the collection of payments on existing orders.
• Responsible for assigned client caseload from the initiation of required activities, until children reach the legal age of emancipation.
• Required to interview the custodial parent, non-custodial parent, employers, other agencies, staff and the public at large. Gathers information from investigation and research used to determine a legal basis for the establishment of paternity and/or the collection of support payments.
• Assists the Child Support Enforcement Supervisor in the training and review of Child Support Enforcement Technicians I, and responds to public inquiries, and performs the duties of the Child Support Enforcement Technician Supervisors during their absence

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Skill in using legal documents and preparing correspondence of legal nature and substance.
• Skill in applying legal concepts to a specific set of facts.
• Skill in training other staff.
• Must submit to/pass pre-employment drug test/background check.
