Job summary

State of West Virginia in Wood County is seeking an entry-level Caseworker trainee to learn the full lifecycle of child support enforcement. You will receive formal classroom training and on-the-job guidance to handle initial notices, case development, and data gathering under supervision.

As you progress, you will handle a caseload, locate parents and assets, calculate support formulas, and research relevant laws. Strong confidentiality and customer service skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years of clerical and/or paraprofessional experience.
• Successful substitution of college study for required experience: 1 year per 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Learn to process cases through locations, case development, and initial notices to non-custodial parents.
• Under supervision, progress to independent management of a case load in Child Support Enforcement.
• Locate parents, assets and income; calculate the Child Support formula.
• Research statutes, court opinions, rules and regulations; compile case information from various sources.
• Respond to customer service inquiries, compose routine correspondence, and maintain confidentiality.
