Job summary

State of West Virginia in Kanawha County seeks an entry-level Caseworker for the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement. Under close supervision, you will begin by processing child support cases, learning laws, regulations, and agency policies through classroom and on-the-job training.

Your duties include case development, notices to non-custodial parents, locating parents and assets, calculating child support, and preparing case files for the BCSE Attorney.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Paralegal or legal secretarial training program may substitute for two years of required training.
• Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in a legal setting involving legal research and assisting in case file preparation.

Responsibilities

• Process beginning level child support case work under supervision.
• Locate parents, assets and sources of income; calculate child support using the formula.
• Prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney and respond to customer inquiries.
