Job summary

Affirm is seeking a high-impact Senior Legal Executive to lead Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs across US and international jurisdictions. You will mobilize a team of experts to shape product strategy, regulatory strategy, and enforcement actions while partnering with executive leadership including the CEO and CLO/CCO.

You will guide product development, regulatory compliance, licensing, and litigation efforts, ensuring cohesive and strategic advice across the company in a remote-first

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active state bar in good standing.
• 20 years of legal experience in fintech/tech, including consumer financial, payments, and enforcement matters.
• Expert knowledge of federal and state consumer protection lending laws, fintech, payments, and litigation.
• Proven ability to scale teams and mentor senior attorneys and paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for Affirm’s Product, Regulatory, Innovation, Licensing, Litigation & Enforcement functions with global alignment.
• Provide strategic direction through senior legal leaders to ensure priorities, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
• Counsel senior management, executive leaders, board members, and regulators as trusted advisor on product, litigation, and regulatory matters.
• Partner with Product, Technology, Engineering and cross-functional leaders to guide product development and regulatory matters.
• Oversee responses to federal/state regulatory inquiries, bank partner examinations, and enforcement actions with Regulatory Affairs and Compliance.
• Develop cross-functional solutions to address company-wide problems and drive long-term initiatives.
• Accountable for budgets and outside counsel/litigation spend.
