Job summary

Affirm, Inc. in the United States seeks a senior leader to head the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs function, reporting to the CLO/CCO. You will build and guide a cross-functional team across product, regulatory, licensing, litigation, and enforcement matters.

You will partner with executives to drive strategy, manage regulatory risk, and shape products while maintaining strong external relationships with regulators and board members.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and a state bar member in good standing.
• 20 years of legal experience, including law firm and government (CFPB or FTC) or in-house supporting consumer financial, payments, litigation, and enforcement matters at a fintech or technology company.
• Expert knowledge of federal and state consumer protection lending laws, fintech, payments, and litigation.
• Strong thought leadership and strategic thinking skills with ability to build cross-functional leadership consensus.
• Experience interacting with executive leaders, board members, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage change and translate long-term strategies into near-term focus (2-4 years).
• Experience scaling teams and mentoring senior attorneys and paraprofessionals

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic plans for Product, Regulatory, Innovation, Licensing, Litigation, and Enforcement functions.
• Provide leadership across functions through senior legal leaders.
• Counsel senior management, executive leaders, board members, and regulators on product, litigation, and regulatory matters.
• Partner with Product, Technology, Engineering, Bank, and cross-functional leaders for product development and regulatory matters.
• Oversee regulatory inquiries, bank partner examinations, and enforcement actions with cross-functional partners.
• Develop cross-functional solutions to address complex business problems and drive long-term initiatives.
• Manage functional-level budgets and outside counsel spend
