Rain is seeking a Head of Engineering to own the craft, quality, and technical direction of a roughly 50-person engineering organization. You will lead through a mix of direct reports and a small group of engineering managers and tech leads, partnering closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance.

You will spend your time on design reviews, incident retros, hiring, and the handful of technical bets that determine whether we can support the next order of magnitude of transaction volume.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading senior engineering teams in fintech or payments.
• Proven track record delivering reliable, scalable systems at scale.
• Strong communication with executives and cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering strategy and architecture for multiple domains and networks.
• Set and enforce engineering quality bars across design, testing, and observability.
• Lead through managers and tech leads, aligning with Product, Risk and Compliance.
• Drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence for high transaction volumes.
• Hire, coach, and retain top engineering talent; translate strategy into technical plans.
