Job summary

JLL is seeking a Chief Engineer in El Monte, CA to lead building operations and drive energy efficiency. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems while mentoring a team of engineers and technicians.

You will manage budgets, lead preventive maintenance programs, and coordinate with property management and clients to maximize asset value and tenant satisfaction.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and operations management.
• Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Excellent project management and budget administration skills with proven track record.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience managing engineering and maintenance teams.
• Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Available for emergency on-call situations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety).
• Lead and mentor facilities engineers and maintenance technicians; manage vendor relationships.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment life and minimize downtime.
• Monitor building automation and energy management to optimize performance and identify improvements.
• Manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, and capital project planning.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate immediate repairs with minimal disruption.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
