Job summary

Air Methods is seeking a RW IFR Check Airman to provide oversight, safety, and qualification for helicopter and fixed-wing pilots. Based in Dallas, the role involves conducting training and flight checks in the classroom, aircraft, or simulator.

You will evaluate operations, lead initial and recurrent training, and ensure adherence to FARs and company policies, with travel as needed.

Requirements include CFI/CFII rotor wing, commercial/instrument rating, and robust communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years related experience or training; or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred.
  • Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience.
  • ATP rating in aircraft category preferred.
  • Commercial/Instrument rating required.
  • Must meet total flight hour requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate operational compliance including safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, and other procedures and policies per the General Operations Manual.
  • Initial and Recurrent training (ground and flight).
  • Transition, differences and ROC ground and flight training.
  • Correct and report out-of-compliance issues; coordinate with ACP/Regional Aviation or Maintenance Director when needed.
  • Assist in development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules.
  • Ensure standardized training and checking procedures adhere to the certificate.
  • Assist in pilot record keeping requirements per FARs and policies.
  • Submit required reports timely; operate advanced aviation training devices and full motion simulators.
  • Assist in development of training programs and aircraft checklists.
