Job summary

Air Methods in Minnesota is seeking a FW Check Airman to act as company instructor, providing oversight, safety and qualification evaluation for helicopter and fixed-wing pilots during training and checks. Training occurs in classrooms, aircraft or a flight simulator.

The role covers initial and recurrent training, ROC checks, and collaboration with ACP/Director to correct issues and maintain compliance. Strong record-keeping and report submission are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 3–5 years related experience and/or training.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred.
  • Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience.
  • ATP rating in aircraft category preferred.
  • Commercial/Instrument rating required.
  • Must meet total flight hour requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate safety, flight operations, maintenance, and procedures per General Operations Manual.
  • Initial and recurrent ground and flight training.
  • Transition, differences and ROC ground and flight training.
  • Correct and report non-compliance and coordinate with ACP/Director as appropriate.
  • Assist development and implementation of training schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized training and checking procedures.
  • Assist in pilot records keeping per FARs and policies.
  • Submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Operate advanced aviation training devices and full-motion simulators as required.
  • Assist in aircraft checklist and Pilot Training Programs development.
  • Develop and conduct Basic Indoctrination, ground, flight, instrument, and NVG training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
