Job summary

Air Methods in Greenwood Village, CO seeks a FW Check Airman to oversee safety and qualification for helicopter and fixed-wing pilots undergoing evaluation. Training and flight checks may occur in a classroom, aircraft, or flight simulator.

The role includes evaluating operational compliance, conducting initial and recurrent training, and developing training schedules. Requires CF I/II or ATP preferences, with extensive flight hours and FAA credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred.
• Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience.
• ATP rating preferred.
• Commercial/Instrument rating required.
• Must meet total flight hour requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate safety, flight operations, maintenance operations and procedures per the General Operations Manual.
• Conduct initial and recurrent training (ground and flight).
• Provide transition, differences and ROC ground and flight training.
• Correct and report non‑compliance; coordinate with ACP/Regional Aviation or Maintenance Director when needed.
• Assist in developing and implementing flight and ground training schedules.
• Ensure adherence to standardized training and checking procedures.
• Assist with pilot record keeping per FARs and policies.
• Submit required reports timely.
• Operate advanced aviation training devices and full‑motion simulators.
• Assist in developing aircraft checklists and Air Methods’ Pilot Training Programs.
• Assist in Basic Indoctrination Training and all levels of ground/flight training including night vision goggles.
