Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Billing/Charge Specialist to review clinical documentation and accurately enter charges for Emergency, Outpatient, and Observation services. You will use Epic and other medical software to capture billable charges and support revenue integrity.

Responsibilities include identifying charge gaps, correcting errors, auditing charts, and collaborating with coding, finance, and leadership to resolve complex billing issues.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience working in health care insurance, billing, and charging
• 2 to 5 years of medical terminology experience

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and enter charges for Emergency, Outpatient, and Observation services
• Use medical software to capture all billable charges
• Identify inconsistencies in medical reports and work with leadership to improve charge capture and error correction
• Audit charts and ensure charges are compliant with federal regulations
• Collaborate with coding, finance, providers, site leadership to obtain referrals and prior authorizations for encounters denied by payers
• Resolve complex accounts requiring higher expertise and critical thinking
