The role involves coordinating with surgeons, ensuring aseptic technique, handling specimens, and assisting with draping and positioning. Requires 2+ years in related lines and relevant CST certification may be expected.

Aufgaben

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon prior to surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare and aseptically clean operative site; clip as needed.
• Maintain instrument table in an organized way to prevent damage or wrong counts.
• Identify damaged trays and rectify discrepancies to prevent delays.
• Set up OR according to procedure and ensure sterile supplies are ready.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments, equipment and supplies during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments per policy.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass sterile supplies to team.
• Assist with draping and positioning the patient.
• Receive surgical specimens and verify source before transfer.
• Assist with placement of dressings after surgery.
• Disassemble instruments and manage disposal of sharps and waste.
• Prepare soiled instrumentation for transport to decontamination area.
• Ensure cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of equipment.
