Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Bend, OR seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team. Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.

The CST role supports patient safety and high-quality perioperative care. Required NBSTSA or NCCT certification and BLS; CAAHEP/ABHES education or equivalent is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program or military surgical technologist program or combination of education and experience.
• Current NBSTSA Surgical Technologist Certification, or NCCT Surgical Technologist Certification.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Strong aseptic technique and knowledge of instrumentation for diverse procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and draping sterile fields for procedures.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon; maintain sterile technique.
• Assist in positioning, gowning, and preparing the patient for surgery.
• Contribute to counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments; ensure patient safety and efficient flow.
