Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room. You will scrub, gown, and glove for procedures, prepare sterile fields, and pass instruments to surgeons while maintaining strict sterile technique.

Requires CST/NCCT or equivalent certification, High School diploma, and 2+ years of experience preferred. Day shift, full-time, at AdventHealth Lenexa facility with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
• Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team.
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit.
• Completion of validation skills.
• Interpersonal skills required for team collaboration.
• Proficient in at least two surgical specialties (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
