AdventHealth Lenexa seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in a full-time, day-shift role. The position emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument handling, and OR safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; required high school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical/vocational surgical technology training; certification may be preferred.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• Experience with aseptic technique and surgical instruments mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Supports surgeon and first assistant during procedures with sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, retractors, and endoscopic camera handling.
• Monitors OR conditions, anticipates needs, and retrieves instruments and supplies as necessary.
• Supervises team members, provides orientation and ongoing training.
• Maintains aseptic technique, performs hands-on prep, and sets up sterile fields and drapes.
• Gathers and opens supplies; ensures items are functional and readily available.
• Ensures safety, adheres to regulatory standards, and participates in time-out verifications.
• Counts instruments, sharps, and sponges; documents appropriately.
• Assists with room turnover and directing ancillary staff.
• Prepares specimens and passes instruments, medications, and irrigation solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
