Job summary

SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital Midwest is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support the care of patients in the OR under RN supervision. You will set up the OR, gather supplies, and assist with procedures, using proper aseptic technique and instrument handling.

The role requires completing a technical OR program and is open to individuals with no prior experience. Day shift opportunities exist, and the department is dedicated to patient safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians.
• No experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) certification required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT/NRST equivalents may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Practices and implements the technical components of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Collaborates with the RN and other healthcare professionals to implement a plan of care.
• Prepares equipment, supplies and resources based on an individualized plan of care.
• Communicates accurate and timely information to the RN regarding patients.
• Operates surgical equipment and maintains aseptic technique.
• Handles specimens and documents quality controls according to standards.
• Maintains organized work environment and prioritizes tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
