Qualifications

• Must have sterile surgical technique and experience in operating room procedures.
• Proficient in instrument setup and passing instruments during surgery.
• Ability to assist surgeons and nurses and anticipate team needs.
• Strong infection control and sterile technique to maintain safety standards.
• Experience with EHR documentation and intraoperative record-keeping.
• Ability to handle post-operative turnover and room readiness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards
• Assist surgeons and RNs during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
• Anticipate team needs and ensure efficient case flow
• Verify equipment functionality and troubleshoot basic issues
• Handle and label specimens per protocol
• Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments
• Turn over and restock OR between procedures
• Document intraoperative information per facility policy
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and staff to support quality patient care
