Northwest-Health-Porte is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team in delivering high-quality patient care. You will prepare rooms, maintain sterility, and assist clinicians with instrument handling throughout procedures.

Qualified candidates have 0–2 years of OR experience and hold a CST certification with BLS. The role emphasizes infection control, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Technical school graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing, or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure and physician preference card.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure using aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handles instruments per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer for safety and readiness.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and prepares rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
