Job summary

University Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team from infancy through geriatrics. Under RN supervision, you will apply sterile technique, manage instruments and equipment, and assist in invasive procedures to ensure safe patient care.

The position offers ladder-based advancement, competitive hourly pay, and the chance to work with a multidisciplinary team using advanced OR technology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program and certification as a Surgical Technologist; OR
• One year of Surgical Technologist experience in a healthcare facility before Sept 1, 2009; OR
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technology training program through the US Armed Forces or USPHS.
• Must complete the Surgical Technician Clinical Ladder for advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies and equipment prior to procedures.
• Review surgeon preference cards and verify instrumentation and specialty equipment.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout each procedure.
• Anticipate surgeon needs by passing appropriate instruments and equipment.
• Assist with OR turnover to promote efficient patient flow.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary team.
